As part of efforts to minimize the effect of school calendar disruption on pupils, following the corona virus outbreak, Ekiti State Government under the leadership of His Excellency, Dr. kayode Fayemi, has introduced a novel programme for primary school pupils, on the State run Radio Station, known as Ekiti FM 91.5

Prof. Francisca Aladejana, the Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board ( SUBEB), stated this in Ado Ekiti, according to statement made available by newsmen in the Ekiti State.

As part of efforts by government to curtail the spread of the deadly corona virus, this 50-minutes daily programme is tagged “SCHOOL ON AIR” and it is also designed to positively engage pupils who are on an indefinite break.
According to the statement by the news men, the Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Prof. Francisca Aladejana,stated that the primary school pupils be taught one out of English Language, Yoruba, Basic Science, Civic Education and National Value as well as Mathematics, on each weekday.
In order to facilitate proper appraisal of the impact of the proposed programme, it was stressed that the program would be interactive. The statement added that there would be a phone-in segment at the end of each edition of the programme so as to allow for questions and answers on the topic of the day as well as act as an evaluation for the reach and impact of the programme.
Therefore, parents and guardians are urged to take advantage of this initiative and ensure that their children actively participate in the programme which starts between 3.10pm and 4.00pm, every weekday.
